SGCD provided the local churches, schools and local businesses with Stewardship material in observance of Stewardship Week the last weekend in April through first weekend in May.
SGCD co-sponsors a district booth at the Goshen County Fair with the other 2 Conservation Districts in Goshen County. They display the winners of their poster contests as well as projects the district has been involved with during the past year. We also have drawings for trees and hand out many give-a- ways to all who come to our booth. We have a guessing contest every year and the winner gets 30 trees of his choice.
Curtis Grandstaff is the chairman of the WACD State Education Committee. He is working on getting more education into the school systems statewide.
SGCD provides educational materials as well as presentations to the local schools with the use of our Water Flow Model and our Enviroscape Model, and works with the Goshen County Cattlewomen at the yearly Ag Expo that targets all 4th graders within the county.
SGCD is involved with the local schools at all grade levels in the yearly NACD poster contest. During the past few years the program has been rejuvenated and there has been a lot of interest. The 1st place winners go onto our state competition. The Board provides class incentives to get more interest in our contest. |
